2014 Choice Hotels 60th Annual Convention

Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas will host Choice Hotels 60th annual convention on May 14, 15, and 16th. A meeting of thousands of hoteliers from around the globe, the convention is what keeps your favorite hotel brands providing consistent quality no matter where your travels take you. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of Choice Hotels as a whole.

The purpose of this hotel convention is simple - improve our product and services for each guest's experience. Classroom, forum, and panel style education sessions are offered throughout three days. Topics range from how hotels can lead the way in the technological age, what is our role in our community, basics like reviving hospitality and customer service, and so on. The end result is to return with new ideas, skills, and innovation and to share it with the staff serving you at each hotel. We also have a chance to visit a vendor trade show - merchants showing off their wares and new releases. With firsthand knowledge and new products to implement at out hotel - we really do lead the way in customer satisfaction.

A corporate session is lead by Steve Joyce, CEO of Choice Hotels. This inspiring time lets us take a closer look at the year ahead in our industry - and see how we can help shape it. Brand sessions break each hotel franchise out from the Choice family to learn what new programs we will develop as a whole.

Although each day is scheduled straight through with 13 hours of convention activities, there is some entertainment to re-energize. Jason Alexander hosts an awards dinner celebrating those hotels which, like ours, have been honored gold or platinum awards. Additional congratulations go to service hero award recipients and so on. Grammy winning band Earth, Wind, and Fire will even rock the night away with energetic attendees!

It's not all about fun or even work for that matter. Choice Hotels "Room to Rebuild" project is a service opportunity in which many business leaders participate. Joining alongside Rebuilding Together, volunteers build or remodel a community service, charity, or a 57 unit neighborhood housing service as is the case this year. For those unable to arrive early to work will have an opportunity to donate blood with the American Red Cross right at the convention hall.

If ever you think a hotel is a hotel, remember - community business leaders spend a great deal of time at continuing education courses, keeping up in the industry, and helping to shape the value you receive at hotels across the nation.
