Wenatchee is an exciting place to live and to visit. Often times, we tend to overlook all that our hometown offers to see and do regardless of where we live - simply because we have grown accustom to it. With that in mind, I have dedicated many hours to building a one-stop resource to answer the age old traveler questions: "where can I (fill in the blank)", "what is a good restaurant for (fill in the blank)", "who makes the best (fill in the blank)", et cetera. I want visitors to learn about local hotspots, visit area landmarks, taste our unique cuisine, view the area's beauty and art, and feel this city's history as we do.
So who am I? Growing up in a family hospitality business provided me a unique opportunity to experience what it is like for travelers who are constantly on the road. I got to see the challenges and learn how to help meet their needs. Living out of a suitcase, constantly seeing new faces, being unable to enjoy a homecooked meal - those are the things I grew to help guests overcome. Thankfully, our new hotel has plenty of room for guests, a full closet, an expandable work station, separate living and sleeping area and so on. Moreover, meeting guests emotional and cultural needs have been my primary focus lately - I have dedicated the past few years to new dining experiences, visiting cultural sites, attending meetings, conventions, and much more - so that I may help guests find what they are looking for in a new town.
I enter the hospitality industry with years of experience, growing up at a small hotel I worked every task with my family. We worked long hours attending landscaping, picking up the parking lot, cleaning rooms, repairing leaky faucets, preparing for arrivals, helping during a guest's stay, preparing breakfast, washing dishes, graveyard night audits, and everything else that needs to be done. I know the heartbeat of this business and this city - and I love it.
From a credential standpoint - I attended Wenatchee High School where I elected to embrace business classes, advanced math, and computer applications. During college at the local level, I gained many skills from speaking classes, interpersonal communications, business and marketing, to computer programming. At this time, the Comfort Suites was becoming a reality and I took advantage of that opportunity. Working my way up from the ground level, I pushed myself with more training the day while working nights. Working every shift, every department, I attended school and studied to receive my HOST designation - the Hospitality Operations Success Training program put on by Choice Hotels International. I passed the HOST examination and have operated as the hotel manager.
Recently, I earned a CHA (Certified Hotel Administrator) designation, one of the most prestigious in the industry. I attend national conventions and fall regional conventions, plus have started to become more active in the community at networking and volunteering events.
My final thoughts: We are proud to be a small family business - I think it allows us to connect and serve people much easier than some of the big corporate businesses. Link many of you, I like to support small local businesses. Wenatchee is my home and it always will be - I love this area. Beauty is seen everywhere in this valley and in surrounding areas. There is much to do, so I hope you get a chance to visit.
