Press Release
Developers Steven and Tanya Tramp announced today construction to begin soon on Wenatchees newest hotel, the Comfort Suites at the Park. The new hotel will be located on the north side of Wenatchee, near the Confluence Park on East Penny Road.
Comfort Suites is a leader in the mid-market hospitality segment; with over 700 locations open and under development. Comfort Suites is one of 10 hotel brands under the Choice International Hotels umbrella, other brands include: Clarion Suites, Quality Inn, Comfort Inn, Ascend Hotels, Cambridge Suites, Mainstay, Suburban and Sleep Inn.
This new prototype is an 84 room, 3 story frame construction building with a contemporary look and feel. The exterior features cultured stone, warm rich colors with a distinctive image.
Comfort Suites is unique to Wenatchee in many ways, primarily because it is Wenatchees first and only all suites hotel. The guest room suites provide separate sleeping and living areas, as well as upgraded finishes. Guest room amenities include a sleeper sofa, two piece business desk, microwave and refrigerator. Spacious guest baths including large granite vanities. The new hotel will offer 4 distinctive suite types: the Standard Suite, the Business Class Suite, an Accessible Suite, as well as several Jacuzzi Suites.
The public space includes a multi-functional anchored lobby, a library/internet business center, a meeting room and a breakfast room serving complimentary breakfast daily. Other features include a state of the art fitness center as well as an indoor heated pool.
Spokesperson Steven Tramp states the project will take 10-11 months to complete; with Grand Opening slated for early spring 2010. We have incorporated many new elements into this prototype; its one of the most energy efficient and environmentally responsible designs in the industry. Some of these items include:
- Water conservation plumbing fixtures and fittings
- Laundry equipment that dramatically reduces water and energy use
- Thermostats and light controls that sense when a room is occupied
- New PTACs that use a fraction of the energy of older equipment
- Carpet and Paint specifications qualify for U.S. Green Building Councils LEED Certification credit
- An entirely new lighting system specification
We are excited about this project; its been a long time coming and needed. Our community has not had new inventory in over 10 years. Over the past several years, the Convention and Visitor Bureau has been unable to secure many events and functions due to lack of accommodations. These events and functions went to other communities that had rooms available to house these attendees. Thus, valuable dollars were spent in other communities rather than our valley. Now with the new Event Center, it is crucial to have more inventory.
In the next few months, we will be interviewing quality people to fill between 35-45 positions (background and drug testing will be required).
